ESS Academy
Exercise & Sport Studies Academy
The ESS Academy serves student interest in the fields of Health, Wellness and Sport with rigorous academic coursework, project based learning, and practical application through opportunities in fieldwork and internship.
The academy is designed for students who wish to explore and pursue career paths in these fields.
Students will gain membership to the Academy that provides a growing network of students, faculty, alumni and professionals in the field. This network allows for collaboration, job opportunity, professional development and career exploration as well as the potential for mentorship.
The annual Spring Academy induction ceremony recognizes students who have completed the academy requirements.

ESS 150 - Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries - 4 units

Required Academy Capstone Experience: Select 1 option
ESS 193 - Community Internship in Exercise Sciences - 2-4 units (approved by faulty advisor)

Exercise & Sport Studies Academy- FAQs
- Students must complete 5 Exercise & Sport Studies Courses for Academy membership
- Students may complete the courses in any order for induction into the ESS Academy
- ESS Courses must be taken for a letter grade to count toward the Academy
- Students must complete a capstone experience in order to become an ESS Academy member
